The European cloud computing market is forecast to reach €129 billion by the end of 2024. Yet the importance of cloud computing in some parts of Europe goes much deeper than the market potential for products and services.

For Central and Eastern European (CEE), cloud adoption is integral to future growth and the tech story in this region.

Cities like London, Paris or Berlin tend to dominate the narrative when discussing innovation in Europe. However, more recently cities like Bratislava, Budapest and Warsaw have seen an influx of start-up funding, infrastructure investment and interest from from private investors, boosting their profiles both locally and globally.

According to Invest Europe, the Czech Republic, alongside Poland, is one of the main focus areas for VC investment. However, building a sustainable future for tech innovation goes beyond just startup funding. PwC notes that business leaders in CEE see cloud transformation as a critical business objective if the region is to thrive in the future.

Ness Czech is helping to make this possible by accelerating the establishment of an innovative data hub focused on providing data and cloud services in the region and driving digital transformation potential across the region.

A new chapter for cloud innovation

Ness Czech is one of the largest providers of IT services in the Czech Republic and part of Ness Digital Engineering, a global full-lifecycle digital services transformation company.

To deliver against the growing demand for cloud-based data solutions, the company recently acquired US-based Intricity to complement its existing service offering for the CEE region and keep up to date of developing client needs.

“As specialists in ‘Data & Analytics’ operating not only in the Czech Republic but throughout Central and Eastern Europe, we are witnessing strong demand for cloud-based data solutions. Companies are generating more and more data, which they need to manage and leverage in their business while keeping a close eye on the costs associated with data management,” said Martin Silvička, CEO of Ness Czech, in a statement from the company.

Silvička also noted that a particularly challenging part of the task for companies is bringing data solutions to the cloud and making sure the operations are cost-effective in the long term.

Incorporating Intricity and its specialist offering data strategy consulting, and solutions for data management, modernization, and monetization will help Ness Czech deliver on this front.

For example, Intricity has been a longstanding key partner of Snowflake and Databricks, which augments the company’s relationship with AWS, Azure, and Confluent.  With its global reach, Ness can now offer customers strategy and execution capabilities across the top data and analytics providers in the marketplace.

“Ness has always had a strong position in data engineering, and the acquisition of Intricity strengthens our capabilities in data strategy and consulting. We have expertise in complex data project solutions, which today, are at the core of any digital transformation said Ranjit Tinaikar, CEO, of Ness Digital Engineering.

The need for more comprehensive data solutions

As Ness Czech expands its service offering in Europe, it points to a brighter future for regional enterprises that have hit a wall with cloud transformation in recent years.

For example, 42.5 % of EU enterprises bought cloud computing services in 2023, mostly for e-mail, storage of files and office software. And although 95% of European companies featured in a 2024 McKinsey report say they’re capturing value from cloud, the vast majority of the value companies have captured remains in isolated pockets and at subscale,

With up to $3 trillion is up for grabs in value creation, CEE companies need aim beyond cloud adoption and venture into innovation and pioneering. AI and data analytics are clear options here, but companies need to break out of the current silos to achieve broader value creation.

The innovative data hub and the new partnership between Intricity and Ness are also poised to offer customers easy and efficient migration between different platforms to do more with their data. By automating the conversion of legacy databases, code, and ETL processes, legacy data can be migrated in a cost-effective manner.

Meanwhile, helping to reduce the risk of compatibility issues, pre-built templates for platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, and more, ensuring clean, uniform code for easier testing and control.

“Our international innovation centre in the Czech Republic focuses on providing and efficiently operating cloud-based data services on the MS Azure platform with Databricks integration. With the support of Intricity’s expertise, we have recently expanded our offering to include data solutions on the Snowflake platform. Additionally, customers from across the Central and Eastern European region have a unique opportunity to utilize the advanced BladeBridge migration tool for transforming their data solutions to the cloud or other platforms,” explained Michal Řehák, Director of the Data & Analytics division at Ness Czech.

The power of cloud

As CEE continues to create innovative solutions, the next wave of digital transformation will be key. With an innovation data hub and a concrete network of partner service solutions, the growth of Ness Czech in the region is sure to accelerate further growth across industries.
