AI communications startup Prezent announced this month that Gilead Sciences’ executive Janet Dorling had joined its Board of Directors.

Famous for its HIV and influenza research, for more than 30 years Gilead has discovered, developed and delivered innovative therapies in areas of great unmet need.

The NASDAQ traded company is headquartered in Foster City, California.

Prezent is an AI startup led by founder Rajat Mishra. According to a statement from the company, the enterprise is powered by Astrid — a contextually intelligent AI that leverages industry-specific Specialized Presentation Models — and allows enterprises to create effective, brand-aligned presentations.

Said Janet Dorling on her new role, “I’ve seen firsthand how much time and money organizations can waste on ineffective communication. In biopharma, where the stakes are so high, clarity and speed can’t be optional—they’re essential.”

“The intelligent and contextually aware platform that Prezent has created is a total reinvention for how companies scale compelling, consistent messaging across the enterprise.”

Dorling is also on the Advisory Board at UC Berkeley’s Entrepreneurship Program.

“Janet is the exact kind of leader every company dreams of having on its Board,” said Rajat Mishra, Founder and CEO of Prezent (article’s featured photo alongside Dorling).

“She deeply understands the nuances of biopharma, sees the impact Prezent can have across functions and regions, and brings an operator’s perspective to scaling adoption. We’re thrilled to have her on this journey with us.”

The new appointment marks the latest progress in the Prezent’s mission to support productivity in the enterprise by tackling ineffective business communication.

This comes at a critical time for the enterprise market, where 3 in 4 business leaders say their teams struggle with business communication.

Furthermore, businesses in the US may lose as much as $1.2 trillion per year as a result of business communication issues.
