The company running SmartBill, the most used Romanian invoicing and accounting SaaS platform, counting more than 33k users (according to their CrunchBase page), just raised 1 million B-round, reports Start-up.ro.
ZF.ro is also reporting that the round is led by 3TS Capital Partners, that will receive 25% of equity in the company (for 0.83 mil €), together with Gecad Group that will take another 7% equity share (in exchange for 0.2 mil €).
SmartBill was founded by Ioana Hasan, Radu Hasan and Mircea Căpățână in 2007 and received a first investment round in 2003, when Lucian Todea, the founder of soft32.com, put 100k euro in the company.
The three founders are also behind SleekBill.com, a global invoicing solution, incorporated as a separate company. It will be interesting to see how the two companies will evolve from now on and if we’ll see a more aggressive expansion on the international market too.
“We are very enthusiastic and driven by the desire to offer the most intuitive invoicing products to the world. We truly believe we can take things to a whole new level.”
Ioana Hasan – Smart Bill Product Manager.
This kind of deal is the living proof that startups can succeed even in boring niches where you think there is nothing more to innovate.
